NEWKIRK: The Newkirk Rotary Club provided a community service by working the refreshment center during the Charlie Adams Day Celebration September 8th. The Main Street and Chamber jointly host this annual barbeque cook off in honor of a historic Newkirk figure. This year the BBQ teams endured terrific rain storms all night long in order to provide the delicious meats and beans for the fund raiser. Prayers were answered by mid morning when the clouds lifted for the rest of the celebration. The Rotarians enjoyed donating their time to the adventure. Pictured here are Mary Austin and Susan Smith.
