“Challenge Air for Kids and Friends Shows Some Special Children the Sky’s the Limit.”
Physically Challenged children to Fly with Disabled Pilots at Wylie Post Airport
(Oklahoma City, OK) – Between 100 -125 children from the Oklahoma City area will have the opportunity to experience the wonders of aviation at the Third Annual Challenge Air “Fly Day” Event with at the Wiley Post Airport.
This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity will take place on Saturday, Oct 20, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (Address: Atlantic F.B.O. (5901 Phillip J. Rhoads Ave., Hangar 14 / Bethany, OK 73008).
The Challenge Air “Fly Day” will offer disabled and seriously ill children free 30-minute plane rides. The single-engine planes will be flown by a group of 30 disabled and able-bodied pilots who are donating their time and services to the event. The Challenge Air “Fly Day” focuses on the children’s abilities and shows them through example the many possibilities available to them. The fun-filled day will consist of an educational ground school where the children will learn about the forces of flight and learn how the physically challenged pilots fly with specially equipped airplanes, an inspirational flight in the co-pilot seat soaring over local points of interest, static aircraft for the kids to tour, face painting, hands-on educational activities related to flight, food, music, and much more.
Any physically challenged child or youth is welcome to call 877/FLY-KIDS or visit www.challengeair.org pre-register for this truly inspiring event. Seating is limited. Additionally, any volunteer or volunteer pilot may register on the web site to participate.
