GENERAL INFORMATION   2008-2009 INFORMATION
Study abroad in the 2009-2010 Academic Year; $25,000 Award.


Purpose:

The purpose of the Ambassadorial Scholarships program is to further international understanding and friendly relations among people of different countries. Today, the program sponsors several types of scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students as well as qualified professionals pursuing vocational studies. While abroad, scholars serve as ambassadors of goodwill to the people of the host country and give presentations about their homelands to Rotary clubs and other groups. Upon returning home, scholars share with local Rotarians and others the experiences that led to greater understanding of their host countries.


2008-2009 INFORMATION

The Ambassadorial Scholar for 2008-09 is Lane Perry who grew up in Oologah, Oklahoma. Lane completed his M Ed in Adult Leadership at the University of Central Oklahoma, in Edmond, Ok. Lane is currently employed as Assistant to the Executive Vice President of UCO. He is a project manager conducting research in regards to the university’s strategic plan.  Also, he is Advisor of the Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship Council.

Lane has been assigned to the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand by Rotary International. Lane plans to work on a PhD in Higher Education in the field of service learning, servant leadership and sustainability. He was awarded a multi-year scholarship. Among the honors awarded to Lane are the Joe Jackson Graduate Student of the Year, College of Business Alumni of the Year, Albert J. Escher National Scholar and OCU Homecoming King

Application Criteria:

  • To apply, students must have completed sophomore year in college.
  • Applicants must not have a direct family member who is a Rotarian.
  • Applicants must be sponsored by a club in District 5750 (http://www.rotary5750.org/)
  • Applicants must have permanent or university address in District 5750.
