During the June 6 meeting of the Stillwater City Council, all three Stillwater clubs were recognized, with special congratulations to Stillwater Rotary in recognition of its 100th anniversary in 2021.
The city proclamation read:
WHEREAS, Rotary International was founded in 1905 by a group of Chicago businessmen so that professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas and form meaningful lifelong friendships, and;
WHEREAS, over time, Rotary’s reach and vision has extended to humanitarian service, thus exemplifying its motto of “Service above Self”, and;
WHEREAS, Stillwater is home to three Rotary Clubs; Stillwater Centennial founded in 1991, Stillwater Frontier founded in 1975, and Stillwater Rotary that recently celebrated its 100th anniversary of being founded in 1921, and;
WHEREAS, all of these clubs demonstrate Service above Self by being actively involved in meaningful projects such as Mobile Meals, food sacks for elementary school children, support of MPower in Stillwater, and numerous international projects.
THEREFORE, I, William H. Joyce, on behalf of the citizens of Stillwater and the City Council, want to express our gratitude and appreciation to all Rotarians in our city and to offer special congratulations to Stillwater Rotary on its centennial.
