Michael Trewitt was born and grew up in Houston, Texas. In 1982 he graduated from the University of Oklahoma College of Law and was admitted to the Oklahoma Bar. He taught Business Law at the University of Oklahoma and also served as a Judicial Intern for the late Marian Opala of the Supreme Court of Oklahoma. He was an associate with James Rodgers of Blackwell for two and a half years before opening his own office in Ponca City in 1983, where he has practiced since. During that time he also served for a number of years as Public Defender for Kay County District Court.
Mike has been an active member of the Rotary Club of Ponca City since August 1992. He was named Rotarian of the Year in 2015. He has served the club as Sergeant-at-Arms and Club Treasurer, and in 2015-16 as President. He has served as Assistant Governor for several years and is the current District PolioPlus Society Chair. The Rotary Foundation has recognized him as a Sustaining Member, Benefactor, Bequest Society member, Paul Harris Society member, Paul Harris Fellow+8, and Major Donor Level 2.
